Has anyone ever tried one of these? With the receptacles, does it use one of these for each potty time or does it fill up and then you have to replace it after a few potty times? Is it actually more convenient than a regular litter box or does it actually create more work?

Ratt hi, I had these at one time. if you cat has solid waste and no runs. it is great for adult cats. you can wait until receptacles fills up then dump the receptacles. {which I never waited }I have reuse them until receptacles started to crack. because you could dump the receptacles then clean the receptacles with bleach if you choose to or just throw away receptacle that is ok. I believe you get 12 receptacles when you first get the littermaid .you can get the replacement receptacles I believe at Walmart or kmart or pet smart.

Thanks PD. I wasn't sure if the receptacles actually sealed for good, or if you could reopen them or what. I'm sure that disinfecting them would be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying new all the time! Lol. Part of my problem is that with my bi-polar, sometimes I get so depressed that I don't do anything but sleep and work. I forgo eating sometimes just because I don't feel like it, and that's a problem with bi-polar. I do plan on getting meds to correct this, but I would like to get the littermaid so that the critters don't suffer because of my stupid disability.

Another thing, does it cut down on the dust and stink of the litter box? I have asthma and boy it hurts to mess with the litty box. Thanks for any further input.

the tops of the receptacles lid only close tight when you remove it from the littemaid and put it on the receptacles bottom. you need to get the clumping litter that is lest dusty I use scoop away I am not real sure of a name brand that is less likely to be dusty. before buying read the litter it should tell you. but I will tell you this don't buy cheap clumoing litter because it will not clump good and it will live the blade mess from the cat waste.
I use to have 5 littermaids and dump the receptacles 2 twice daily I could do it once a day. how many cats do you have . if just one cat and their waste does not smell rank you could go without dumping the receptacles until it is full since the litter maid cleans itself every time it is used. I believe fresh step may cut down on the odor as well that is another litter that I use

I have two cats. The one has the liquids right now though, because he's on antibiotics.
