Could someone explain the huge difference in prices in Digital cameras??? I don't know enough to just tell by reading the descriptions.
With regular cameras the main difference is in the optics and isn't readily noticable unless you want to do a lot of pro type stuff with the camers/negatives/prints. For most regular uses the 35mm cheapies and the one-time-use ones are fine.
Is it the same sort of thing in the digital ones or is there a major difference in the operation/quality of the pictures/etc.

Quick and simple the more "megapixals" the better the photo quality and the higher the price.
If you want to enlarge photos to 8x10 get at least 4.0 megapixals.
You would probably want to buy an extra memory stick, compact flash card or whatever the name, they have differant names for differant brands of cameras, but it is what "holds" the photos. My "compact flash card" is 256 mb and will hold over 200 photos before I have to download to my computer. It is the best for a vacation you never have to worry about how many photos you have left.
I received my digital camera last Christmas. I thought it was all hype and put off learning about it for about 4 months. Now - it is my constant companion!! I do not have a lot of experience with photography, but it is a joy to use. It is super easy to download your photos, use them for projects, print your own layouts, etc. Photo paper has become so much more affordable that printing your own photos is a real plus.
Mine is a Toshiba 3.2 Mega pixel with 6X zoom and Movie Clip. I don't use half of the options on the camera. A friend has a 2.0 and has no complaints.
Mimi, I have a Canon Powershot A70...I love it...Takes wonderful pictures for me of my dogs, horse, ect...My daughter, who has some experience with cameras pick this one out for me...Very easy to use & download to your computer...

Racey - I'm pretty good with the old 35mm's but I get a major problem at getting the film [or a single use camera] developed. I'm looking to get a digital so I can have current dog pictures on my website. I'm waiting for the fog to burn off so I can go to WalMart and look at them again [maybe if I leave, Sami will start having her pups]. But prices seem to range from $50 to $500 and up.
