My granddaughter uses her computer for her Barbie games. It has Window 2000 office professional on it. I bought it used. Yesterday it started not starting up all of the way. Office starts to come on , but then it just stops and does nothing. It is not on the internet, so no virus could have gotten it. I keep trying to start and restart, but it won't do it. Just hangs up. Does any one have suggestions of what to do , so that she can play her games. thanks

My thought is, that if you have a start up disk for it, you can use that when you start it up and then scan disk and it should correct it. If you don't have a start up disk, you would need to try and get one from whomever you got the pc from or take it in to a shop. It sounds like it needs the boot up disk to make the operating system work. I'm no expert, and sorry that's about all I know. I'm hoping you have a start up disk or reboot disk already.
Sounds more like some sort of conflict in the software. But I guess it could be hardware related as well.
When widows is booting up, you'll see that line (progress bar) going, around that should be a option to hit a key (f8 or maybe f5) for startup options. Hit that key, wait for it to load and then boot into safe mode. Once in safe mode go to control panel and then add/remove programs. I would start removing things that dont look right or something that was installed very recently. Then reboot it and see if it works.
If not, it could be a few differnt things. A shop may need to look at it. If your anywhere near the northern part of IL, let me know, I do work for low prices.
