I'm setting up a web page at GeoCities [Pro Plan not a free one] If I ask a question on their help place - all I get is an answer in computerese. So I have a few more of my stupid questions. What is a directory? What is a subdomain? I'm supposed to have 5 email accounts, but I have no idea how to use them and when I ask, it either sends me to Yahoo! or puts up a dialog box to set-up an account and send someone an invite to use the new email address. I have asked them every way I can think of - selected 'not even close' everytime and asked again and just go round and round.
So far setting up the thing has been fairly easy. Any help would be appreciated.

Little Johnny - Thank you for taking the time to find that for me - but it doesn't explain it at a level I can understand. I know a 'domain' is an address and a subdomain is like a little branch of that address, but I don't know how it works or how to tie it together - if I try to set up a subdomain, it asks for the 'directory' I want it connected to - if I ask what a directory is it says it's part of the domain - it just keeps using the same terms over and over - referring one to the other - which doesn't give me enough information to define any one of them.

A directory is a place on the server where you html and pics (etc etc) are stored. A good common example of a directory is the public_html folder. In ref. to the sub domain, it sounds as if thy are asking you to link the two together.
Example... a domain www.mydomain.com has its contents pulled out of the public_html folder (or directory) If I wanted to extend my domain to a subdomain: cats.mydomain.com, I would have to set up a differnt directory in the public_html directory. At this point I would make a folder called cats (just a example) so when people go to cats.mydomain.com, they would actually be seeing the content out of the cats folder which is located in the public_html folder (directory).
Perhaps this will help a little.
