I vote NO. This nation was founded under God. Obviously the founders intended for the United States to always remain One Nation Under God.

More Flame bait Rose ?

Ok I'll bite and give my opinion, only my personal opinion, I do not force my views on others, or expect anyone else to think as I do.

The words " One Nation Under God" were only added about fifty years ago, around 1954. So NO Rose it has nothing to do with our Founding Fathers.

I think it is kind of nice to hear the words " One Nation Under God" sounds kind of like a little prayer for our country.

But I do understand some religions such as Jehovah's Witness do not want their children to recite the pledge, and that others feel this way also. It is my understanding that they believe pledging allegiance to a flag is a form of idol worship forbidden by the Bible's ten commandments.

And some people feel referances to God do not really have any place in Government.

It will not make any difference to me if it is removed, I will not stop going to Church, stop praying and turn to a life of atheism.

Rose dear, you were talking about the Founders of the United States, you said ' when this Nation was founded. That means the United States Consitution not an individual State.

There is no mention of One Nation Under God in the United States Constitution.

Pardon Me! I meant to type removing One Nation Under God from the Pledge Of Allegiance. My mistake. Please refer to the title of this thread! That should clarify.

Rose, thank you for clearing that up. I would not like for people to be under the mistaken impression that the United States Constitution contains the phrase " One Nation Under God" . Because that phrase is not in the United States Constitution.

I think If it's not broken Don't fix it.
I like it with under God in it. no matter what they do I will always say one Nation under God.
what are they going to do take my birthday away.
I also would love to get a big 10 commandments to put out in my front yard. I 'd like to see someone tell me to remove it because it offends them. I would tell them, you offend Me and I haven't had you removed yet. lol
I also would like to see prayer and God, Brought back in to the schools. Well I guess God and prayer go hand in hand.

Michelle have you ever actually read the United States Constitution ? You know the United States Constitution that was written in 1787 and officially adopted in 1789 to outline the structure and powers of the three branches of government ? NO where, not once is the word GOD. Our nation was founded as a secular government based on the authority of " We, the People" not God.

NO where in the United States Constitution do'es the phrase " One Nation under God" or the phrase " in God we Trust' appear.

Our money did not read "in God we trust" until 1957. The Pledge of Allegiance did not have the phrase "under God" until 1954.
