The church needs to back off, and let this thing go. They are creating a stir that will interest those who haven't read the book.
Its fiction, its a story, get over it.
I frankly wouldn't want a religion that told me what I should, or should not watch, hear, eat, listen to, or believe. The sad thing is, we HAVE freedom in this country to practice any religion we choose, but these SAME religions want to tell its followers what to do.
If they were concerned about the public view, they should have ignored it, and acted like they didnt care - by starting a press war, they have garnered more interest, and it backfires. I think most of the church officials are sounding more and more like cult leaders, and are afraid of the general public perhaps seeing the movie and wanting to learn more.
(Holy Blood Holy Grail anyone?)
IMO religion may help those who believe, but it does just as much harm to others who believe differently.

I have no desire to read the book or see the movie. So I'm afraid I won't be contributing much on this thread.

Sadly, and this from the voracious reader, I must confess I have yet to read the book. I plan to read the book, however, before I watch the DVD. Until I get to the first round, I can not even comment... of course but to say that 'I can not even comment.'

Ok, I'll discuss. Hog wash.......... what a concept.....that Christ was married to Mary Magdalene! It's my belief by the way that speculation regarding Jesus's personal life is NOT pertinetnt to MY salvation. NO mention of a wife is made in the Holy Scriptures. If it were important, we'd have it in the scriptures, and that's that. I by the way have lost any respect I had for Director Ron Howard, and now can't stand to watch any show he was ever on........what was it, just two, Andy Griffith and Happy Days? ( I bet Don Knotts (Barney Fife ) is turning over in his grave ) As far as Tom Hanks goes, I haven't been able to tolerate him for years. *GAG* He made it clear years ago he was just fine with gays, and that he'd think it just swell if his boys accepted gay men as roll models..........made me furious, and I've not ever watched a movie he made since all that Philidephia crap.
Well I don't think any of the movie is true, BUT I do want to watch it. Just like I think my religion is the WTG, so what? I am still interested in learning about others. I NEVER put down anyone elses views/beliefs. That in itself is wrong I think.
I am interested in watching it, and i'm sure I'll see it, then I'll be able to come back and post more to this thread!
Why would anyone want to see such a movie, and put false and alarming notions into your head? The adversary ( Satan ) is behind this movie, there is no doubt.
Then there is Broke Back Mountain. Another movie you couldn't pay me to go see. Will they ever make a good wholesome movie again? Does anyone know if the old Walt Disney shows are, or will ever be on satellite? Remember Sunday evenings when The Wonderful World Of Disney would come on?
Yes catie, Walt Disney movies are still being made, as a matter of fact there are a few new cartoons for the children with curse words in them. That is some good wholesome watchin' for the whole family!
Brokeback mountain, lmao, yeah that movie pisses me off too, and i won't see it either!! If theres gonna be a movie about good looking cowboys in tight pants wanting to share the love, thats great! But when its with another cowboy I don't like it, that makes TWO not one but TWO cowboys i have no chance with, so I hate that! As far as putting things in my head, well, when your belief and faith is as strong as mine then you have nothing to fear, right? If I was "unsure" of what I truly believed then maybe I might be scared to watch it, thats only if I was scared of changing my mind, and thats nothing to be scared of.
I don't care for the new Walt Disney. I want the old hour long shows back. The good ole fashioned 60 minute program the whole family could sit down and enjoy together. The narrated ones for example about the wild baby animal that gets lost and has to find his way home. And Homeword Bound didn't even come close to that.......all those inuendos. (sp)? They just always have to throw something trashy in to ruin a good show.
And Kenzel, there IS real danger in going to a show like The Davinci Code or Brokeback Mountain. Ever heard of avoiding the very appearence of evil? That's what the Scriptures say to do. Once you get your foot in the door, it gets easier and easier, and pretty soon you've been brought down, ever so gradually by the old adversary. Just like he wanted.

As for the movie, its like I tell my kids all the time, its just pretend and not real. Its a movie nothing more. A movie cannot change your faith in God. If you believe and practice your faith you will overcome temptation and evil every time. God is with us at all times, even when we don't realize it. Nobody has said the Davinci Code is fact. Its a movie plain and simple. Fiction.

I saw the movie on memorial day weekend. It was "ok" but I thought it was a bit dull & very predictable... their wasn't one intresting plot twist... I pretty much seen everything coming... which doesent make for a very thrilling movie. Not a relgious person so don't care a hoot about that aspect of the movie... just thought the plot line was a bit flat.
