During the North African Campaign, a bunch of soldier boys had been on a long hike. They arrived in a little town called Casino. The next morning being Sunday, several of the boys went to church. A sergeant commanded the boys in church.


After the Chaplain read the prayer, the text was taken up next. Those of the boys that had a prayer book took them out. One boy had only a deck of cards, and he spread them out. The sergeant saw the cards and said, "Soldier, put away those cards." After the service was over, the soldier was taken prisoner and brought before the Provost Marshal.


The Marshal said, "Sergeant, why have you brought this man here?"


"For playing cards in church, Sir," was the response.


The Marshal asked the soldier, "And what have you to say for yourself, son?"


"Much, Sir," replied the soldier.


The Marshal stated, "I hope so, for if not I will punish you more than any man was ever punished."


The soldier said, "Sir, I have been on the march for about six months. I have neither bible nor a prayer book, but I hope to satisfy you, sir, with the purity of my intentions." And with that, the boy started his story ...

When I see the trey, I think of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

And when I see the eight, I think of the eight righteous persons that God saved when he destroyed the earth: there was Noah, his wife, their sons and their wives.
And when I see the nine, I think of the lepers our saviour cleansed, and that nine of the ten didn't even thank him.
When I see the ten, I think of the ten commandments that God handed down to Moses on a tablet of stone.
When I see the King, it reminds me that there is but one King of Heaven, God Almighty.
And when I see the Queen, I think of the blessed Virgin Mary who is the Queen of Heaven.
And the Jack or Knave is the Devil.


When I count the number of spots in a deck of cards, I find 365, the number of days in a year.
There are 52 cards, the number of weeks in a year.
There are four suits, the number of weeks in a month.
There are twelve picture cards, the number of months in a year.
There are thirteen tricks, the number of weeks in a quarter.


So you see, Sir, my deck of cards serves me as a bible, an almanac and a prayer book."

First off... you people act like Homosexuality was just invented & is some new horrible addition to the world. If you knew anything about human history, animal species, genetics, or evolution then you would know that nothing could be further from the truth. Homosexuality has been around sence the begining of humanity... and likley before hand. There are sevral animal species including one of our closest living genetic reletives the Bonobo who have same sex mating rituals. It is a way to bond and release stress & bring a family group together. I see nothing at all unnatural about homosexuality.... sexuality comes in many diffrent forms.


From a purley scientific view..there are species that don't need sex at all to reproduce & species that can change sexes(female to male) when they need to. Male/Female breeding partners are not the "only" and sometimes not even the best types of mating arangements.

Just because "your" book says that something is wrong doesent mean it is true. IF "you" want to believe that then that is fine.. but not everyone reads that same little book that you do.. and not everyone shares your belief's.
You are all diluted if you think that "your" GOD or "your" religion is going to save the world. What this world needs is a little less hatred & fewer "hate crimes". Who cares if "your" god doesent like homosexuals. You should be inteligent enough to understand that "your god" doesent rule this world & everyone is intitled to their own belief's.

Megan - I hope you did not misunderstand MY post above... unsure to whom you were replying. I was, in fact, agreeing that people should not cast stones. As long as people are not hurting others, they can believe and do what they choose or what suits. I am hetero and married myself, but my next door neighbors are a female couple who have been together longer than most marriages. One woman has a teenage son from a former marriage. Her partner hit 38 and wanted to experience the wonders of childbirth and childrearing. She was inseminated - gave birth last December. They have a wonderful family life. I see nothing wrong with that, nor will I ever. In fact, I think it is healthiest for any child to grow up in a loving, nurturing environmnent - one parent or two, hetero or not. It's the love that matters.

Just my 2c here, but it is disturbing to me to see Christians engage in this type of conversation. We are called to be shepherd's, but so often get caught up with theological doctrine, we forget the greatest commandment and the great commission.

A shepherd of sheep would have little value if he always approached the flock with his arm's flailing and his voice raised. They would run away every time. If you have ever watched a sheep herding competition, very rarely does the herder speak at all, but when he does, it is gently. That is why Jesus spoke so much about love. If I were an unbeliever, and every Christian that I encountered was bashing me (and there are a lot of people out there who are hurting, and bashing themselves enough already) I would not want any part of what they were selling. We were all unsaved before we accepted Jesus. If we had encountered rejection from a "disciple" before praying that prayer, would we have? Think about the story of the woman at the well. Her people were enemies of the Jews...she was living in sin, but Jesus spoke with her and offered himself as living water to her. Another thing, many of the scriptures that have been given as testimony against sexual immorality were directed to BELIEVERS. Not to say that God doesn't hate all sin, but to be preaching church doctrine to the unchurched is counter productive. Please remember that one of our greatest (some argue the greatest) proponent of Jesus was Saul/Paul who persecuted the church before God put the call on his life. Please read John 8:46-50...even Jesus says that God seeks glory and that He is the Judge - even Jesus understood whose responsibility it is to judge.
I encourage those who have a desire to teach or disciple others to get training. Those who lead or teach (especially the unchurched) are held to high spiritual accountability. For those here that have been hurt by anything said...many prayers and much love to you...Remember, Jesus died to meet you where you are, none of us are perfect and He does love you...even to the murderer who hung on the cross beside Him - he sinned his whole life, but Jesus gave Him eternal life for the few minutes of faith that he had.

I find it not disturbing in the least. I just don't understand what peoples' problems are with gay marriage. Other peoples' relationships have nada to with anyone else. I'm very much of a "whatever floats your boat" type of a person and if it's love, what else do want? If two people of the same sex want to be married, I say more power to 'em, congrats on the wedding! It's extremely judgmental and closeminded to say that just because people have different sexual orientations that it is somehow wrong. I think it's just as healthy and just as acceptable for people of the same sex to join and marry.

If you will open your Bible and go to The New Testament, find Romans Chapter One and read Verses 26-32 you will read what God has to say about homosexuality ( Along with several other sins)

I couldn't agree more with what you said. A lot of people here aren't even acknowledging that other people have other religions and Christianity is not THE religion and others are not less.
