Damned in the religious sense simply means stunted in your spirtual growth. It doesn't mean you are going to burn in a never ending lake of fire. This is what I believe.

Not sure I get what you are asking. But this is fact: If you tell someone something long enough, eventually they will come to believe it and it shall come to pass as well. For example: If I told someone everyday that they would get run over by a car, inevitably, they would start believing it and then one day they would get run over by a car.
Our subconscious doesn't know the difference between the truth and a lie. So if you tell yourself positive things every day, you fake it until you make it so to speak, you will eventually become a positive person.

I forgot to add, the same goes with negative.
Hate breeds hate. Love breeds love. You get what you put out. If you are mean and hateful you will receive the same in return and vice versa.

Carla, I didn't know that. I have a stupid question for you. Do you use the same Scriptures that Christians use as the Old Testament?
If the answer to that is "no", than what I'm about to say is irrelevant, but if it's true--then what about when Isaiah said, "But your dead will live; their bodies will rise. You who dwell in the dust, wake up and shout for joy."? Again, that might be irrelevant, but I would be interested in knowing.
We've had disagreements before, so I want you to know that I'm not lining you up for a bashing, I truly want to know. thx.

I have no problem having a discussion about religion. I just have a problem when I feel that people are forcing thier religion down my throat. I don't do it to others. Anyone can feel free to believe what they want, just don't try to shove it down my throat or pass laws based on someone else's religious beliefs.
And yes the answer is "no". The jewish relgion really doesn't believe in an afterlife.
I wasn't trying to "force" anything down your throat. I was asking a few legitimate questions about your faith.
Here: Do you use the same Scriptures that Christians use as the Old Testament? I know you don't call it the "Old Testament", but what I mean is, is the content the same?

That was a general statement, not specifically to you. There are plenty that do try to force thier religion down my throat. And more that can't see that there are more than one religion in the world and more that think their's is better. They try to 'convert' people. They think that they can only be 'saved' by converting. Well I don't want to be 'saved', don't believe there is such a thing as 'saved' and it is egotistical and biggoted to think that way. I am not referring to you specifically again.
Jews do believe in the 'old' testament but we obviously interpret it WAY differently.
I just found this, it says that Judaism, for the most part, does believe in afterlife (it is a Jewish website, not Christian:
quote: Olam Ha-Ba: The Afterlife Level: Basic
Traditional Judaism firmly believes that death is not the end of human existence. However, because Judaism is primarily focused on life here and now rather than on the afterlife, Judaism does not have much dogma about the afterlife, and leaves a great deal of room for personal opinion. It is possible for an Orthodox Jew to believe that the souls of the righteous dead go to a place similar to the Christian heaven, or that they are reincarnated through many lifetimes, or that they simply wait until the coming of the messiah, when they will be resurrected. Likewise, Orthodox Jews can believe that the souls of the wicked are tormented by demons of their own creation, or that wicked souls are simply destroyed at death, ceasing to exist
Hopefully I'm not prying,(don't answer if I am), but which sect of Judaism do you belong to?
yes you are correct, we call it the talmud, torah, etc. All names for the 'old' testament in hebrew or terms jews use. It is not a matter of what scriptures we 'use' but how they are interpreted.
This quote you have is from an orthodox perspective and not what I was taught nor what my father explained to me and he was raised very orthodox. I am of the conservative sect.
