When I think of Gospel music I think of crowds of people crying and falling on the floor babbling and just getting caught up and carried away. Sometimes it can be very frightening.
I am very tolerant of all Christian religions, and respect everyone's right to worship as they please. I realize that there is good and truth in all Christian religions. What is right for someone else however, may not be right for another. All Christian religions are stepping stones to God.

Rose: I can assure you thats not what goes on at a Greater Vision Concert. Also there is nothing frighting at these concerts! I simply asked if anyone else enjoyed southern gospel music..There is a differance in gospel and southern gospel..Do you ever watch Dr.Charles Stanley? Greater Vision appears alot at his church, and no one is rolling around on the floors there! Donna

I believe in singing hymns in church. Music is a very important part of worship, if done properly.

I assure you this group of men do it properly! Donna

So a church with a live band wouldn't really be proper?
In my opinion, and my religion, no it would not. In my church we have a piano. We have an opening hymn, an intermediate hymn, and a closing hymn. They are not very long, and are enjoyable.
Sometimes the children put on a presentation and sing, and sometimes on special occasions an adult may sing a solo. No opera, and no rockin and rollin. Just a tasteful musical number.
I do like some Christian Contemporary music, and have some CD's. But that style of music is not appropriate for Sunday Services.
On Sundays we go to church to worship, and to receive instruction. Part of worship involves music. But it should be done tastefully and respectfully. After all you are in the Lords House.

Would you care to elaborate Mimi?
Rosemarie, I am trying to get your attention here? Do you go around and pick on everybody or am I just special? I'm seeing a pattern from you--is this the way you normally are?
Sure, I'll elaborate. If the music is done right, it adds to the service, and makes it more enjoyable for the younger ones and many of the older ones as well. Worship is supposed to be rejoycing - when people are happy they often break into song - If the songs and music are for the worship of God - there can be no harm.

Music is but a small part of worship. We should go to the house of the Lord to learn about his Gospel. We learn about the teachings of Christ by studying scriptures and listening to the wonderful lessons that our teachers have prepared for us.
