lol. Smile Canned chicken is generally in the canned meats section of the grocery store. There is hormel and swanson and other brands.
Yes, definitely using fresh cooked chicken is better, always. You could use about a cup of cooked chicken instead. You can add more if you want it meatier. Canned chicken is just a shortcut. Like canned tuna. But it's really chicken and you can get light and dark meat mixed or all white meat. I think even Walmart carries it these days. Hope you like the recipe. I'll look for more later on.

This is going to sound like a really stupid question, but is the canned chicken pre-cooked?

Yes, it's precooked. Seems like it might be pressure cooked or something. It's not bad for casseroles and such.
It comes in a small can like tuna does and a larger can also. (hey, maybe I should get them to send me some bucks for advertising for them? lol)

It's just convienient if you like stuff like casseroles or chicken enchiladas, wraps, etc. I do prefer the kind you cook yourself, but I've used the canned kind more than once in a pinch. It makes an okay chicken salad for a sandwich, if you kick it up a notch or two.
I generally keep a can or two in the cupboard just for times someone shows up and I haven't cooked anything and just to have around when I don't feel like cooking much.

It's like cubed chicken or something and has a little broth in the can, but not a lot. I could send you a can if you like. Just let me know via PT. Wink
