I've always wanted to start one, but have never followed through.

I hope someone does post that has one because it would be a most interesting topic.

Let me know how yours turns out.

I have planted parsley and chives before and they grew like crazy. My husband even mowed down the chives by accident and they came right back up. The more you cut them, the faster they grow back.

I think you gave me a new incentive here, Rayna.

Ive had a herb garden. I have to replant it this year due to the extreme weather we had this winter. In mine I had it in a planter box ruffly a 2 by 2 foot square. In it I had, chocolate mint, peppermint, Sage, Basil, Rosemary, lemon thyme. I do believe thats all I had in that one. In a smaller pot all by its self I have chives, which I need to repot this year. Ive had it for about 5 years now, and in a smaller pot I had garlic chives and apple mint. The garlic chives are not as hardy as the regular chives. I gave up on planting parsly, the catapiller ate it all.
The only idea I can give you is plant things you will use. If you plant them all together, or even if you plant in the ground, keep in mind that the "Mint" plants (expecially the peppermint and spermint) are EXTREAMLY invasive.
Watch the labels when you get them, as some are annuals and some are perenials. Also when you use fresh they are generally stronger than the dried stuff, expically when just cut off the plant. I don't have any books to recomend as I usually don't follow them.

Hi Dals,
Does the apple mint taste like apple or like mint? Just curious.

Tastes like mint with just a hint of apple. If you wrap a piece of mint around a piece of apple, it tastes that way. You get the mint first then the apple.
