i have a 1990 mercury 5.0l that will not start except with starting fluid. then it decided to start on its own but has no power. lotts of popping and flames from exaust. the car is going to demo so i dont want to put money in to it. can any one give me some where to look.

Your carburator needs adjusted, it is dumping too much fuel and this causes the flames and popping.
The fuel should not be able to get past your catelytic converter, though, so I would wonder about it's safety. A plugged up converter can catch fire under your car, and if it's plugged then the car can't get rid of it's exhaust which could choke it up and be your'no power' problem. (try breathing when someone else is breathing in your face, and you will understand what I mean) Cars need fresh air and to expell exhaust fumes just like people.
Some people are so worthless that even their sh!t is worth more than they are! THINK ABOUT IT... at least their sh!t can be used for fertilizer.
