Yesturday I took my 2003 Chrysler Town and Country to the dealer for an oil change and PA inspection was due. I expected to pay about 100 total for all that. Ended up paying 425.00!!!! Front brakes were gone and I didnt realize it. So complete brake replacemtn along with recutting my rotors because of brake pads were gone. Then all the little things they find that need done. On the good side though, I have been complaining to the dealer about the power lift gate opening by itself while driving down the road 3 times, well yesturday the mechanic took it out to test the brakes after he replaced them and it happened TO HIM!! Turned out to be a faulty switch in the lift gate. They replaced the switch at no cost to me, WARRANTY Big Grin. So I thought I would remind everyone to make sure to have their brakes checked so they avoid a high bill like I got.

The only dumb question is the one that goes UNASKED!!!!

I have a 2001 Chevy Prizm. When I bought it from the dealer I also bought an extended warranty called the Guardian warranty. It cost me $850. It is ALMOST bumper to bumper, but it doesn't cover quite EVERYTHING, but covers the majority of everything that may cost me mega bucks. It is for 2 or 3 years I can't remember. I think it was a good deal. I hope this helps with the unexpected repair bills because I can not afford them lol.

Yea we had one with the acclaim and the buick but this one still has ford warranty...I dont think any warranty covers for brake pads though...still unbelievable that they would need replaced just yet.

Well yesturday I got a NICE break. I took an older lady in my neighborhood to the store and while we were in the store I had gotten a flat to my front tire. So I bought a can of fix a flat in the store and drove to Walmart which was less than a mile away. I was honest and told them there was a can of fix a flat in the tire and would they please check it. Well normally if there is fix a flat in a tire you are charged more for it. But because I was honest and told them I had just put it in just to be able to get to them, they did not charge me extra Big Grin. It only cost me 6.50 to have my tire repaired thumbsup Turns out I had ran over a nail in the lady's drive way she had just had her garage roof redone.

Linda, you did not offend me in the least. I do my own repairs to my older car. But my van is so new and I dont want to mess with the warranty. It is the very first time I have bought a brand new vehicle right off the lot so I want to do everything I can to protect that warranty.

Well now I got paid back for the break on the tire to my van. My car's water pump is leaking and although I could probably replace it if I paid close attention to what I was doing. I think I would rather have a certified mechanic do this job. $$$$$ yadda yadda yadda.

man I'm so lucky my son is a mechanic, the things that other people have to pay for only end up costing me parts, and we just had a motor built for my husbands race car, which If I bought it from an engine builder would have been upwards of 15,000, cost me a total of 3650.00 with parts and a block, so I'm thanking my lucky stars I have Bobby, even though, I get so aggravated at times because the house is full and I have to buy diapers, groceries and lots of other things, I just bite my tongue and go on. Hide in my room alot, and spend a lot of time with my dogs, and really hide from mother in law that lives in a big rv on our property. ARGH!

How did you get it to drop so much (if you don't mind sharing) ? I need to get mine dropped some too, if possible.

It was higher due to an accident I had had 3 yrs ago. Well when this renewal came around it was also time for the accident to be removed, so my premiums lowered.

If you are truely looking for lower insurance try WWW.PROGRESSIVE.com Thats what I did and I ended up going with a different company, they truly do show you their rates and the rates of others and in my case another company had a lower rate.
