My first car that was mine to drive was a '49 Caddy fastback. 1/4" spring-steel bumpers - Dad figured if I hit anything, I'd go through it. Nice car, but it cured me of owning an automatic when I lost most of the brakes coming down a hill [old brakes used to overheat and fail].
First, and only, car I ordered new was a '70 Chevy Nova. Dark blue. Standard steering. Power brakes. 350 ci engine. 3-speed on the floor. It could fly a little low, but was hard to hold on wet roads even with the posi-traction. Traded it on a 4X4 Chevy truck.
